Here at Te Mania we have a philosophy of producing leading edge genetics while farming in a sustainable manner to ensure we leave the land in good shape for generations to come.
A large area of the property has been fenced off to preserve native bush and waterways, with much of this now protected by QEII Trust Covenants. Frank Wilding was instrumental in starting the positive management to ensure regeneration with the fencing of native bush, plantings in the fenced off areas and of shelter belts. This work is on-going today.
Further to this Te Mania has adopted a Biological Farming policy where we have moved to the use of more natural farm inputs and limited the use of harmful chemicals.
In 2009 Te Mania was awarded the Trust Habitat Award in the NZ Farm Environment Awards.
